Camp and a “Best of the Bay” award winner, Susan Edwards presents a slide show and
discusses adventurous places to go for adults and children around the bay.
Learn about the best trips with kids in and around San Francisco. Trips that are fun, educational
and free or inexpensive. Places where a family can explore the extraordinarily rich and varied wild
hills, valleys, bay, ocean, islands and mountains - our own backyard!

The Odd Mondays Series presents Poets Joanna McClure and David Meltzer

Joanna McClure, early childhood educator, poet and author (Wolf Eyes and Extended Love Poem)
was an important part of the San Francisco Renaissance and Beat poets that included among others,
Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gary Snyder, and Diane di Prima. Her reviewers speak of her “refreshing spirituality
and her love of nature.” Joanna will read from her forthcoming book.



David Meltzer writes poetry “that resonates with the music of jazz and folk music.” He moved to San Francisco
in the 1950s to join Beat writers such as Michael McClure, Lew Welch, Jack Spicer, Robert Duncan and Phllip
Whalen of the Beat Generation. He has taught poetics at Vacaville prison and New College, and is the author of
many books that include San Francisco Beat: Talking with the Poets; Beat Thing; 2-Way Mirror: A Poetry
Notebook; Selected Poetry, 1957-1992
