will read from the new
paperback edition of "A Death in Zamora," his memoir honoring his mother
Amparo's memory, whose tragic capture and assassination
occurred during the first months of the Spanish Civil War. He will also
discuss the significance of Perehelion, the day when the earth is
closest to the sun.
Sender also will read from Professor Helen Graham's Len Chrome
Memorial Lecture presented to the 2003 gathering of The International
Brigades in London. In her lecture she explained the importance of his book
for the Recovery of Republican Memory currently occurring in Spain. "It
tells in microcosm almost every profound thing one could want to say
about the civil war in Spain," Graham said.
