In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, the Odd Mondays
Series at the Noe Valley Ministry presents African-American Civil Rights
Lawyer James McWilliams
who will show and talk about the PBS documentary
"From Swastika to Jim Crow". The film deals with the relationship
between German-Jewish refugee professors, the Black community and the
Southern Black colleges. Free Admission to the event, with fee parking
available at the parking lot on 24th Street between Sanchez and Vicksburg
streets.
James McWilliams grew up in segregated Birmingham, Alabama, and
attended Talladega College, which is described in the video "From Swastika To
Jim Crow," from 1950 to 1954. and then served in the US Army . He
attended the University of Wisconsin Law School where he and his wife along
with many others formed a civil rights group that supported southern
civil rights activists.
